So Real Madrid finally got their man. Arjen Robben finally moved from Stamford Bridge to the Bernabeu last week, fulfilling in part, the clubs promise to its fans in close season. The promise to procur both Robben and Kaka seemed wildly optimistic at that time, and as these promises are made on an annual basis, it would be right to have been sceptical.
However Robben was duly signed and with fellow new boy Gabriel Heinze, was also delivered, to the demanding Madrid Press and public, last week. What struck me was that both players are currently injured. Robben is a serial crock.
Despite injuries both players were brave enough to don Real Madrid kit and like lame circus animals, showed off some football juggling skills.
And i wondered why Real Madrid could not possibly have learnt anything about buying injury prone players from the premiership. Given the recent history of Woodgate, Owen and Beckham, what does Robben have in store.
Maybe these players are bought with the thought of keeping the physio company on training days
