The West Coast of Africa was celebrating yesterday as Nigeria, also known as the Super Eagles, beat Benin 2-0 with goals from Chelsea’s John Obi Mikel and Everton’s Yakubu to qualify as runners up in Group B. They will play Ghana in the quarter finals on Sunday.
Chelsea’s Didier Drogba was among the goalscorers as the Ivory Coast, who had already qualified, defeated Mali 3-0 with another comfortable and very convincing win. The Ivory Coast will play Guinea for a place in the semi finals.
Tonight its the deciding matches to see who qualifies with Egypt from Group C. Cameroon and Zambia are both on three points. Cameroon play Sudan and start in second place on goal difference, while Zambia play the current champions Egypt.
Both games kick off at 5pm UK time.
