Just watched Manchester United’s match at Arsenal live on TV (hooray for Azerbaijani TV stations and satellite dishes) and I won’t write too much because I don’t want to spoil it for those of you who’ll watch the highlights tonight but: what a fantastic game!
I think this is the first time in a while that this sort of “top four” fixture has really lived up to its billing. Both teams were playing lots of open, flowing football, although there was a spell in the first half where they were kicking lumps out of each other. Sometimes that wasn’t so subtle: I couldn’t help laughing at Adebayor’s Evra-assisted slide along the touch-line. Naughty! It’s almost a shame the match seemed to be settled by a moment of inattention and then a scrappy goal-mouth scramble, but I guess it was predictable at the end of such a high-energy match.
Did you see the match? Was it really as good as it seemed, or am I just starved of good live footy these days?
Now, if you’ll excuse me, the TV has started wailing and showing pictures of half-naked muscle men with horses, so I’d best go switch it off…

I didn’t watch it but had it on the radio (Five Live) and it did seem to be an exciting match. Looking forward to the highlights on MOTD.
