The England manager, Fabio Capello has named David Beckham in a provisional 30-man squad to play France in Paris on 26th March.
Capello made it clear, when he left Beckham out of his first squad to face Switzerland, that the door was not shut on David Beckham’s career; and with this recall it looks likely that he will play some part in next week’s friendly game, and with it receive his 100th international cap
David Beckham, who now plays his soccer for The LA Galaxy in the United States MLS league is 32, and I personally cannot see how Beckahm can be picked ahead of in form players such as David Bentley and Shaun Wright-Phillips.
However, I do still believe David Beckham is a very influential player who still shows 100% commitment and pride when playing for England; and like his bit part role in Steve McLaren’s last game against Croatia, I see Capello using him as a squad player, to bring on with 20 minutes to go.
Does anybody really think he will start againt France? And what are the odds on Beckham not making the final 24 man squad?
Now that would be cruel!
