England manager Fabio Capello will name his first squad this afternoon, for the upcoming friendly against Switzerland. But one name that will not be included is that of David Beckham.

Capello has apparently spoken to Beckham by phone and explained that the midfielder will not play a part in the game that would win him his 100th cap, thus ending weeks of media speculation.

The England manager has told Beckham that he does not consider him to be match fit and that his inclusion in the squad would be wrong for all the players who are competing week in week out.

However Capello has also said that Beckham still has a part to play in future England international games, and will be considered when he is playing for his club team LA Galaxy.
