Rangers were the big winners in last nights round 2 games in the Champions league. Despite their win in the previous round, against VfB Stuttgart, few outside of Ibrox would have given Rangers a chance against last seasons French ligue champions, and current leaders Lyon.
A 0-3 win still seems unfathomable against a team that dominated the game, but were hit by the brilliant counter attacking of the Rangers team. Rangers face Barcelona in the next round of games and on this form must deserve to be very optimistic.
Elsewhere, Arsenal earned the points, away to a determined Steaua Bucharest. A late goal from Van Persie was enough to take the points in a scrappy contest. At Old Trafford, Manchester United were never going to see the goal fest that had been predicted, against a well organised Roma side who posed a threat throughout the game. A Wayne Rooney goal enough to seperate the teams and collect the points.
