Cardiff Join Portsmouth In FA Cup Final

John Williams - Monday 07.04.08, 09:54am

Cardiff ended the glorious cup run of Barnsley, to book themselves a place in the FA Cup Final against Portsmouth.

An early goal from Joe Ledley gave Cardiff the lead in another lively, but by no means classic cup game. Barnsley pressurised and enjoyed a lot of possession during the first half of the game, with Cardiff always dangerous on the counter.

Barnsley ‘keeper Luke Steele kept the scoreline respectable with some excellent saves from Sinclair and Rae.

Barnsleys goal scoring hero against Chelsea, Odejayi missed a glorious chance to equalise in the second half, clean through and with only the ‘keeper to beat, he could not hit the target.

Cardiff also had chances to increase their lead, but one goal was enough and they will now face cup favourites Portsmouth, in a return trip to Wembley for the FA Cup Final on Saturday 17th May.
