Chelsea started another Champions League campaign with a stuttering poor display that continues their less than convincing start to the new season. It was apparent from the kick off that Chelsea were going to struggle, not to beat their less than average Norwegian opponents, but without the absence of Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba were always going to struggle to score, even if they were to have 29 shots!
Rosenberg have been beaten convincingly thrashed by Premiership teams on two previous occassions. Blackburn and Arsenal succeeded where Chelsea looked lacking of invention and ideas, even reverting to throwing John Terry up front as a centre forward. Apart from Shevchenko’s reply to an earlier shock Rosenberg goal, Chelsea did not deserve to win; and on this display will not be posing a serious challenge for the prize they want more than anything else.
