Chelsea must beat Man United to keep the Premiership title race open. Anything less will as good as seal another Premier League title for the reigning champions.
Alex Ferguson has already started the mind games by saying it is unreasonable to expect his players to play in a mid-day kick off when they didn’t return from the UEFA Champions League game against Barcelona until Thursday afternoon. He forgot to mention they had prolonged their trip to Spain so as to complete a full training session.
Chelsea will no doubt be without midfield lynchpin Frank Lampard after the death of his mother this week, though Avram Grant has stated that he will leave the decision up to Lampard himself. Personally I would rather Grant be more authoritative and tell him he will be in no fit state to play. Chelsea will need 100% commitment and concentration if they are to beat Manchester United tomorrow.
Personally, I think the game will be a draw. Chelsea need to win but if Manchester United play the same game they did against Barcaelona and simply soak up everything Chelsea throw at them, as the game goes and Chelsea start to throw everyone forward to risk a winning goal they may leave themselves open to a classic Manchester United counter-attack.
Whatever happens I can’t see Ronaldo missing another penalty!
My prediction a draw: 0-0 or 1-1. Rollover the banner below to see the latest odds.
