Following the news that Tony Adams would be relieved of his managerial duties at Portsmouth, comes the news that Chelsea have sacked Gene Hackman lookalike Luiz Felipe Scolari from his position at Stamford Bridge.
A statement on the Chelsea website says that Scolari has been dismissed “to maintain the challenge for the trophies we are still competing for.”
Ray Wilkins will assume control of the players while a replacement is being sought.
A return for Jose Mourinho perhaps?

I’m surprised by Chelsea’s decision to get rid of Scolari now. But I guess it was inevitable. I remember last summer it was reported that the directors wanted to offer Mark Hughes the job but Roman Abramovich insisted on Scolari.
Do you think any of them has called Roman to say “I told you so!”?

The resemblance to Hackman is given a new meaning if you look at his back-catalogue of films!
