Derby County Football Club has been taken over by yet another group of Americans appearing in the Premier League. Only this consortium will not be expecting to stay in the top league much more than a few months. Barring a miracle the club is destined for relegation at the end of the season.
But it seems that these buyers are very aware that they are building a club for the future. The new investors have taken on Derby’s £25 million debt and also pledged funds to manager, Paul Jewell to strengthen the squad in the summer, in a bid for to bounce straight back into the Premiership at first try.
The American investors have been negotiating with club chairman Adam Pearson since October, with the deal almost collapsing in recent weeks. The consortium had also been involved in negotiations with Manchester City prior to showing interest in Derby.
