Just days after saying that he couldn’t wait to form a strike partnership with Nicolas Anelka at Chelsea, Didier Drogba has put the cat among the pigeons at Stamford Bridge by suggesting that he would love to move to Barcelona.
Drogba made it clear earlier in the season after the departure of Jose Mourinho, that he would reconsider his future at the end of the season, a statement of his intention of leaving I always felt. So this news should not really come as a surprise.
What is surprising is the mutual admiration that Drogba and Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o have for each other. In an interview with a French newspaper this week, Drogba says” If any striker in the world was offered the chance to play next to Samuel Eto’o, he’d tell you that would be inspirational. I Love his style, he’s unbelievably quick, and has a killer instinct in front of goal.”
Samuel Eto’o has also heaped praise on the Chelsea striker saying that Drogba is “unique” and that he looked forward to forming a potential strike partnership with the Ivory Coast player.
Chelsea seem to have lost patience with Drogba however and seem resigned to losing the player at the end of the season. They will not make it easy for him to leave however, with reports today that a move to Barcelona or AC Milan would involve Lionel Messi or Kaka moving to the Bridge in exchange.
