An English businessman has agreed a deal to buy a controlling share of La Liga club Real Mallorca, says a report in the Telegraph.
The man named as Paul Davidson is known as ‘The Plumber’ recently floated his company Fluid Leader on the Plus Market, earning him an estimated £40million.
He will have to dip in his pocket for another 10 million, as the 96% share purchase has been agreed at around £50million.
Davidson fought off competition from the ex-Newcastle chairman Freddie Shepherd and an unnamed Russian investor to buy the club.
Sadly Davidson says that he doesn’t know much about football but wants to promote his other business activities through the football club.
“We will operate our other businesses from the club, but I will not be taking decisions about football. I will leave that to the current management.”
Maybe that’s a good thing if you think Gillett and Hicks et all.
