Graeme Souness says in a report in the Daily Star that he is not interested in managing again, claiming that current footballers are too big for their boots.
“I haven’t got the energy or the patience to deal with players any more,” Souness revealed on Sky Sports’ UEFA Champions League coverage.
“They play half a dozen times in the first team, they’ve all got an opinion and they want to be heard and it’s not for me. Money’s given them a voice that they never had. Obviously the game has changed greatly.”
I had to smile. I loved Souness as a player, but have to say he was probably the most argumentative and opinionated player ever, something that he carried with him into management.
I suspect fans across the country are breathing a sigh of relief that he is now unlikely to turn up as manager at their club this season.
