Top Bayern Munich officials have allegedly reported that newly appointed coach, Jurgen Klinsmann was offered Rafa Benitez’s job only hours before accepting the position in Germany.
Unbelievable though it seems, this story is all over the press and you have to accept that there maybe some truth in it.
All this speculation has got to have an effect on Benitez, while the pressure to win trophies is I suspect nothing in comparison.
What Liverpool’s owners expect to achieve by unsettling Benitez is hard to imagine. He is one of the best managers that Liverpool could have and despite his irritating rotation policy is achieving the best that anyone could expect.
In Spain where Benitez spent his most successful spell, with Valencia, he took an underachieving side to the La Liga title twice in three seasons, and won the UEFA Cup. But resigned after a fall out with management over transfer funds leaving with the remark that “I asked for a table and they gave me a lampshade”. So Liverpool fans beware.

Klinsmann is Germany’s Terry Venables, did well at a home tournament but nothing else.
