The Telegraph reports a growing rift between Liverpool co owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett, as the pair edge closer to a refinancing deal at Anfield.
Gillett is reported at being “deeply unhappy” with partner Hicks, over his recent comments confirming the approach made to Jurgen Klinsmann. He is particularly irritated that Hicks broke the news despite reassurances from the Texan billionaire that he would remain silent until the clubs refinancing deal was more secure.
The report suggests that the growing split in the partnership at one point threatened to throw the famous club in to a new takeover battle just 12 months after taking control of the club. The pair have also gone back on their promise that they would not copy the approach favoured by the Glazer family when they took control of Manchester United regarding the financing of their purchase.
