New England New Era New Kit

Terry Lane - Wednesday 06.02.08, 18:54pm

As Fabio Capello embarks on his first match as the new England manager, the FA cash in on yet another official away kit launch. Capello needs to start well as expectations are high. Furthermore, the last two England managers have started with emphatic victories.

Sven Goran Erikkson’s first game as England manager resulted in a 3-0 win over Spain, while Steve McLaren went one better, beating the European Champions Greece 4-0.

The England players had some good things to say about the new manager at the kit launch.

I didn’t see the game but by all accounts it was pretty poor, I’ve seen the highlights and I can’t believe our fans were booing after 38 minutes. How on earth are we ever going to win anything if we act like that?

I wasn’t at the game. But if I was I would have joined in with the booing myself. It wasn’t aimed at any particular player, the manager or even the formation. But followed a series of schoolboy errors, misplaced passes & the start of the England players looking like they really didn’t want the ball, let alone keep it.

The booing started with the final straw as an attack just as the Switzerland goal area resulted in a back pass all the way back into the England half.

Shortly after that England scored & the pressure was lifted & nerves appeared to settle.
