Owen sulks over Capello snub

John Williams - Friday 08.02.08, 09:36am

A report in todays Sun newspaper says that poor little Michael Owen is hurt by Fabio Capello’s apparent snub towards the Newcastle striker.

Its time to grow up for the Newcastle striker, who although fit has not exactly been playing with any conviction for his club. With the new era for England, under Capello it has been made quite clear that reputations count for nothing, David Beckham has already found that out. And that is how it should be.

When Capello sent on Peter Crouch, the game swung in Englands favour as the coach imagined it would, and despite Owens excellent scoring record for England, Crouch brings so much more to the team in times of need.

I have the greatest respect for Owen, but his revelations about losing his confidence when playing for Keegans England side and now sulking to the press, will not enhance his position with the national team.

Take a lesson from David Beckham, Michael and prove that you are as good as your reputation suggests. Make it impossible to be overlooked and you will be treated with the respect that you think you deserve.

    Fully agree with these comments.
It would have been nice if Owen had made many more
references to playing for Newcastle, especially when he
    costs so much to keep!
It was by buying players such as he that the club hoped to do much better in the League and Cup Competitions
and after suffering so many serious injuries, one would have though Owen would be showing the utmost
endeavour to help Newcastle win some games. He has
    never looked too enthusiastic.
We all hope to see a change of attitude - and soon!
