City of London police paid an unexpected visit on Birmingham City football club this morning. The officers seized computers and other records from the Premier League club.
It is thought that the raid was in connection with the ongoing investigation , which saw agent Willie McKay and Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp arrested in December.
Police confirmed that they had ‘executed a search warrant at a premises this morning, in connection with the ongoing investigation into football corruption.’ Adding that the investigation ‘is entirely separate from the Lord Stevens inquiry.’
Birmingham’s managing director Karen Brady said that the club are co-operating with the police investigation, ‘Which is in connection with a third party.’
None of Birmingham City’s employees have been questioned or detained, it is understood.
