True to his word, Avram Grant promised to push Manchester United all the way in the race to win the Premier League title. And after a 2-0 win over Newcastle last night, Chelsea are now level on points with Man Utd with one game to play.
Chelsea’s impressive unbeaten run in the Premiership of 20 games is going to make the final day of the season an exciting one, as Chelsea are at home to Bolton and Manchester United are away to Wigan.
If Man Utd equal Chelsea’s result next Sunday then they will be crowned Premiership Champions for an astonishing 10th time in 16 Premier League seasons.
After a poor first-half performance, Chelsea beat Newcastle with a convicing display and two second-half goals from Michael Ballack and Florent Malouda.
In the post match interview, Avram Grant dismissed suggestions that Wigan, managed by former Manchester United defender Steve Bruce, will not play to win against his former team and manager.
