Roy Keane - Untouchable?

John Gawen - Wednesday 29.08.07, 19:36pm

Only a couple of weeks now since newly promoted Sunderland were top of the shop, if only for about an hour after that last gasp winner in the lunchtime kick-off against Tottenham.  Since then though it’s been a rough ride for boss Roy Keane.  A point at Birmingham, out muscled 3-0 at Wigan and a football lesson at home to Liverpool leaves them with 4 points from 4 games and looking up, rather than down, the league.
Loads of media coverage of Keane’s comments about WAGs and shopping hasn’t really shifted focus from the football, or lack of it, being played by his team.  Keane’s response - Andy Cole, to join Dwight Yorke and Kieran Richardson.  Man U rejects XI anyone?
Then last night comes humiliation 3-0 at Luton in the Carling Cup - the team Sunderland thrashed 5-0 to go up as champions last year.  And still no-one seems to have a bad word to say about Keane.
I’m sure he’ll come good, a winner doesn’t forget how to win that quickly.  But it needs to start sooner rather than later.
Next up for the black cats - Man United away, and Keane’s old mate Alex Ferguson.  Should be a cracker.
