Transfer Rumours For Arsenal

John Williams - Tuesday 08.07.08, 11:54am

Alexander Hleb has admitted to falling out with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger over his playing role in the team during last season and says that he told Wenger that he wanted to move at the end of the season.

Hleb is frustrated that despite putting his cards on the table, he is still at the Emirates when he feels he should be on his way to Barcelona. Wenger also faces the possibility of losing striker Adebayor, despite Peter Hill-Wood’s insistence that the player is going nowhere. Arsenal’s offer to Adebayor however is believed to be around half the salary of what the player is asking for.

Barcelona are also keen to sign Adebayor and are in pole position now that AC Milan appear to have withdrawn their interest.

So what is happening at Arsenal? Has Wenger lost his composure at the club?

Mathieu Flamini couldn’t wait to get away from the club after waiting years for his chance of regular first team football at Arsenal, he was one of their most consistently good players last season, his departure leaving a massive void for Wenger to fill.

The frustration as Arsenal imploded towards the end of the season was vented by Wenger on Lassana Diarra for choosing first team football with Portsmouth rather than sit and wait for a chance at Arsenal. Diarra retorting that he would not have left Chelsea if he had not been promised regular first team action by Wenger.

On-field problems between Adebayor and Niklas Bendtner and the child like behaviour of captain William Gallas as Arsenals dream season turned into a nightmare, suggest that Wenger has a lot more to do than buy new players.

Spain and Villareal defensive midfielder Marcos Senna emerged from the Euro’s as an ideal replacement for Flamini, but has allegedly committed himself to the Spanish club despite interest from Arsenal and other top European clubs.

Arsenal’s only signing so far this summer is the promising teenager Aaron Ramsey bought from Cardiff City for around £5million.

Russia and Zenit playmaker Andrei Arshavin is a player that interests Wenger, and if the latest rumours from Zenit are true, it seems likely that he will end up in the Premier League after Barcelonas latest bid of £15million was turned down. Arshavin had a couple of fantastic games for Russia during the Euro 2008 finals, but was ominously ‘missing’ when needed most against Spain in the semi final. Arsenal would face stiff competition from rivals Chelsea for the Russian player.

Amaury Bischoff the French 21 year old French midfielder is set to leave Werder Bremen to join Wenger, who has seen the player progress since his days at Strasburg. Bischoff will join Arsenal on a free transfer as his contract at Bremen expires.

The ongoing saga with Samir Nasri looks likely to end with the Marseille playmaker set to join the gunners within the next week. Obafemi Martins of Newcastle has also been linked with Arsenal, and would jump at the chance of playing for the club, but Arsenal have yet to confirm an interest.

Who would you like to see join Arsenal or who would you like to see leave?
