The Republic of Ireland will appoint Giovanni Trapattoni as their new coach, at the end of the Austrian season.
The news posted to the Red Bull Salzburg website says that the former Italian coach and current manager of the Austrian Club, will take up his new post once his contract expires in May. He is hoping to bow out by winning the Austrian league title with Red Bull.
Trapattoni is expected to be named as Steve Staunton’s successor with the Republic, after an FAI meeting next Wednesday.
This looks like another snub for former England coach Terry Venables, once the darling of British football.

I’m sure the Irish fans will be more happy with this than Terry Venables, lol
