The last time Manchester United & Barcelona met was in the 1998-99 season, when both UEFA Champions League matches ended in thrilling 3-3 draws.
That was the season Manchester United last time Manchester United was crowned kings of Europe.
Four Manchester United players are in the squad to face Barcelona in the Nou Camp who featured in that game: Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Wes Brown; Barcelona’s only survivor is Xavi.
I’m hoping for another attack minded goalfest though Barcelona maybe missing more than their captain, Puyol, who is suspened.
Thierry Henry, Ronaldinho, Lilian Thuram, Jose Edmilson and back-up goalkeeper Albert Jorquera also missed a training session on Monday; though the influential Mexico defender Rafael Marquez is expected to return after suffering from bruising and inflammation in his right foot.
Not such problems for Manchester United as Wayne Rooney, Edwin Van Der Sar, Owen Hargreaves and Anderson have all recovered from minor injuries. Gary Neville and Darren Fletcher have also been named in the squad.
With that in mind it might be worth betting on Manchester United to win (2/1 at the time of writing), but with both teams spearheaded by the two young exciting Argentina forwards, Carlos Tevez and Lionel Messi, a 2-2 thriller is a tasty bet at 16/1 (current odds at the time of writing).
After getting the Liverpool 1 Chelsea 1 prediction spot on, I am going to predict another draw, 2-2 would be nice.
