There seems little doubt that newly installed Manchester City boss Mark Hughes will attempt to plunder the riches of his former club during the summer, with the names of Roque Santa Cruz and David Bentley scribbled near the top of his wish list.
And while both of those players names have been appearing in transfer rumours since the end of the season, Santa Cruz has told press in his home country of Paraguay, that City rivals Manchester United are after him.
He says the interest from United is real, but his commitment to his countries world cup duties means that he has left his agent to “Handle anything if there is a concrete offer.”
Meanwhile City look likely to land Brazilian striker Jo from CSKA Moscow with a club transfer record fee already in place, according to executive chairman Garry Cook. And they haven’t given up on the idea of fellow Brazilian Ronaldinho joining him at Eastlands.
Hughes will need all his guile to persuade defender Richard Dunne that he is better off staying put, but with the recent developments he may already have made his mind up to stay.
I cant wait for next season to start!
