Back in the days when Roman Ambramovich dug deep in his pockets and bought every player that moved, Chelsea were accused of buying players to stop them going to rival clubs. While I doubt that that was entirely true there was plenty of evidence to support the theory as Chelsea’s squad ballooned in size.
Many of those players were indeed unable to ensure regular football with the club and moved on but others chose to take the money and stay with the club.
Manchester United are different, they have never had that same accusation levelled at them and yet in recent years they have put together a squad as large as any in Europe. Where this is leading to is of course the Carlos Tevez affair.
Tevez was taken on loan by United following a season with former loan club West Ham. He became an instant hit with the fans and added something special to the team. He scored goals, made goals and above all showed total commitment to the cause.
Sir Alex Ferguson had never tried to hide his admiration for Dimatar Berbatov however and when he became available United could not turn down the chance of buying him from Spurs. Since his arrival at Old Trafford, Tevez has more often than not warmed the bench, despite United looking equally as strong with either player in the starting eleven.
To his credit Tevez has until recently kept his thoughts to himself as he continues to train hard to improve his chances of first team football. He is a class player who will improve only by playing regular football at the top level. United’s fans know this and are almost as frustrated as Tevez himself at the shoddy way that the Argentine player has been treated by the management of the club.
Whether Tevez will start in the Champions League final only Ferguson could say, but he deserves at least to be included in the squad even if it is to be his last game for the team.
If United want to sign the player as far as we are aware he is more than happy to commit to the club, whether he would be happy playing second fiddle to Berbatov, who can say?
I believe that Tevez should be allowed to leave the club and put a season of disappointment behind him. He has many suitors at clubs that would love to have him playing on a regular basis. He may not be guaranteed a cupboard full of medals but sometimes playing the game can be much more satisfying.

This is a difficult one.
I really think that United would be incredibly stupid to let Tevez go. His work rate in games is second to none. Always giving 100%.
If he leaves United though, where would he go?
