Valencia coach sacked after Sevilla win

John Williams - Tuesday 30.10.07, 18:09pm

Managerless Sevilla recorded their best win of the season against Valencia at the weekend, winning at home by 3-0. The result costing Valencia manager his job, after counting the cost of recent Champions league losses to Chelsea and Rosenberg, both 2-0.

Quique Sanchez Flores has been sacked and Oscar Fernandez has been named as caretaker manager. Valencia are currently in fourth place in la Liga and just four points behind leaders Real Madrid.

Current Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez enjoyed the best spell of his career with Valencia before heading for England. Would he be tempted back? Its doubtful, as Rafa left Valencia after falling out with Chairman Jaime Orti.
