Yaya Toure has confirmed that he has joined Manchester City from La Liga champions Barcelona after being told that he was surplus to requirements at the Catalan club.
A reported fee of £24 million will change hands as City at last make the signing that they have been chasing over the last season or so.
Toure will join fellow La Liga player David Silva who was announced as a Manchester City player this week. He will also join up with his brother, the former Arsenal player Kolo Toure who is now installed as captain at Eastlands.
City manager Roberto Mancini said;
“Everyone knows Yaya is a player that we have admired for a long time, we would like to welcome him to Manchester City. He has played at the top level with Barcelona and I am sure his experience and ability will be very important for us.”
The Eastlands club have now spent around £60million already this summer, securing the services of Yaya, Silva and German defender Jerome Boateng, clearly looking to build on last seasons disappointing fifth place finish.

is there anyone City aren’t going to buy? don’t forget they can only play eleven at a time, they have a lot of big ego’s to keep happy if they’re not playing, good luck Mancini

As opposed to last season City are actually signing players that should be able to break them into the top 4 next season. Now let’s see if they can get them to play together!

To be honest I think that Manchester City should stop spending hundreds of millions of pounds on players each season, what they should be doing is spending money one season and taking time to mould the team together into a great team. The only reason that all the top players such as David Silva and Yaya Toure are joining Manchester City is because they are offered a mega amount of money each week in exess of £100,000. City will not get a Champions League place for atleast another 2-3 years as Roberto Mancini needs time to get the right team together, Manchester City need to support him.
